Potatoes with a Scalloped Surface
In particular, these potatoes au gratin, or scalloped potatoes. As far as I’m concerned, they are the finest. And millions of you have tried them and agreed in the years since I first shared this recipe on the site! If any of you are new to the site and are seeking for a reliable recipe to try this weekend, I thought I’d put this one back at the top of the list today. I can attest from personal experience having made them several times that they will not disappoint.
What You Need:
4 cups of potatoes, thinly sliced
3-tablespoons butter and 3-tablespoons flour
1/2 cup of milk (1)
An ounce of salt and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper
one cup of strong cheddar cheese, grated
To garnish the dish, 1/2 cup of shredded cheese

Melt the butter in a small saucepan and stir in the flour.
Give it a few minutes to sit.
Whisk in the entire carton of chilled milk.
