Place the dough on a lightly floured workbench and knead for 5-10 minutes, until you feel the dough becoming soft and small bubbles forming under the surface.
Put the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a cloth or plastic wrap, and let it sit for about an hour until it doubles in size.
After rising, place the dough on the table and cut it into 4 pieces. Gently pull each piece into a rope about one to one and a half inches wide.
Cut the rope into one-inch strips, form them into balls, and place them on a baking sheet or wire rack. Cover with a cloth and let them rise while you heat the oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fry the dough balls in butter until they are golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pan. Drain on paper towels or a wire rack.
For the glaze, melt butter and mix it with confectioners’ sugar, vanilla, and hot water until smooth. Dip each donut into the glaze and let it set.
