Christmas Baklava Recipe for The Perfect Holiday

Baklava is a delightful and rich dessert that’s perfect for the holiday season. Here’s a recipe for Christmas Baklava:

Ingredients:
For the Filling:
2 cups mixed nuts (walnuts, pistachios, almonds), finely chopped
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
For the Layers:
1 package (16 ounces) phyllo dough, thawed
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Syrup:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup honey
1 cup water
1 cinnamon stick
4-5 whole cloves
1 strip of orange peel (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
Prepare the Nut Filling:
In a bowl, combine the finely chopped mixed nuts, sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Set aside.
Prepare the Phyllo Layers:
Unroll the phyllo dough and place it between two sheets of plastic wrap. Cover it with a damp towel to prevent it from drying out.
Brush a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking dish with melted butter.
Carefully layer about 10 sheets of phyllo dough in the baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter before adding the next.
Add the Nut Filling:
Sprinkle a generous layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
Repeat the process, layering phyllo dough and nuts, until you run out of nuts. Make sure to reserve a few sheets of phyllo for the top layer.
